Need filler copy for a mockup? This lorem ipsum generator creates clean placeholder text in seconds, so you can test a layout before the real words are ready.
Lorem ipsum is dummy placeholder text for layouts and drafts — it is not real content and should be replaced before a page is published. The text is generated in your browser from the traditional lorem ipsum word bank; nothing is stored.
How to use this tool
To generate lorem ipsum online, choose whether you want paragraphs, sentences or words, then set how many you need, from 1 to 50. If you like, turn on the classic opening, press Generate, and then copy the result or download it as a .txt file.
What it does
As a dummy text generator, it assembles fresh placeholder copy each time from the traditional lorem ipsum word bank, so every run looks like natural Latin-style prose without saying anything specific. This placeholder text creator is handy for web designs, wireframes, slide decks and draft documents, and as a lorem ipsum text maker it keeps the focus on spacing, line length and hierarchy rather than on wording. Fans of the shorter name will recognise the same idea in a lipsum generator: meaningless, realistic-looking text for filling space.
Honest limits
The text is assembled in the browser from the traditional lorem ipsum word bank, so it has no meaning and no translation value: do not read it as Latin, and do not use it to convey information. It is dummy text for layouts and drafts only, and it must be replaced with real content before publishing. Anything left in place on a live page will confuse readers and search engines alike.

Lorem ipsum is traditional placeholder text made of Latin-like words. It looks like real prose at a glance, but it carries no actual message, which is exactly why it works as filler.
Paragraphs mode gives you whole blocks of text for testing a full layout, sentences mode gives you shorter units for a single section, and words mode gives you an exact count for tight spaces such as buttons or headings.
It comes from the traditional lorem ipsum word bank, a scrambled passage long used in printing and design. This tool assembles its output in your browser from that familiar set of words.
Designers use it so a layout can be judged on its own merits, without real wording distracting the eye. It lets clients and designers check spacing, font size and hierarchy before the final copy is written.
